Covid 19 Restrictions for St. Barth

The criteria for entry is to be fully vaccinated (age 18+), a negative PCR Covid test taken 72 hours or less before arrival, and a confirmed reservation for a minimum of 7 nights


Current entry requirements.

Travelers from the USA and EU are welcome to enter St. Barth in accordance with the testing requirements outlined below. Travelers are required to wear a face mask when entering the St. Barth airport and while on their flight to/from St. Barth.

  • ARRIVAL: Visitors (age 11+) are required to show a negative RT-PCR Covid-19 test (this is the molecular-based swab test) where the date the test was administered is within 72 hours of their arrival. Visitors (age 11+) staying longer than 7 days will be required to take an additional RT-PCR Covid-19 test in St. Barth, at their own expense (€135), on the 8th day following their arrival. (i.e. if you arrived in St. Barth on Sunday, you will need to test locally on the following Monday).  The testing lab is available to drive up Monday-Friday from 2-3 PM and Saturday 9-10 AM.  If a visitor tests positive, they will be required to self-quarantine for 14 days or until they re-test negative.  If a visitor is unable to remain in their rented accommodations for the required period of time, they may quarantine at a designated lodging facility which is located in St. Jean.

What airports are open and how can I get to St. Barth?

  • San Juan (SJU) airport is open.  ARRIVAL: As of July 15, 2020, travelers must show a negative RT-PCR Covid-19 test (this is the molecular-based swab test) where the date the test was administered is dated within 72 hours of their arrival. A pre-arrival travel declaration must also be filled out by all arriving.   • St. Maarten Princess Juliana Airport (SXM) reopened August 1, 2020, to commercial flights from the USA. Private Jets and commercial flights from other destinations resumed on July 1, 2020. ARRIVAL: Travelers are required to show a negative RT-PCR Covid-19 test (this is the molecular-based swab test) where the date the test was administered is dated within 72 hours of their arrival.   • Antigua (ANU) airport is open: ARRIVAL: As of July 15, 2020, travelers must show a negative RT-PCR Covid-19 test where the date the test was administered is dated within 72 hours of their arrival.

Are restaurants, boutiques, and businesses open?

  • Yes.  The majority are open, excluding those associated with hotels that are within their annual closing. Favorites include Nikki Beach, Eden Rock, Shellona, Tamarin, Esprit, Orega, Bonito, Bagatelle,  La Guerite, Pearl Beach, Eddy's, L'isola, Lil Rock, Bananiers, Baz Bar, Le Repaire, L'Entracte, La Langouste, Jojo Burger, Le Select, Bar de L'Oubli, Baz Bar, Black Ginger and many more.  Curious if your favorite is open or looking for a reservation during your stay?  Clients of St. Barth Properties should contact our Concierge team for reservations.  Restaurants & Bars are required to close by 12 midnight and will be setup to encourage social distancing.

Are masks required?

  • Yes. In accordance with the July 17, 2020 announcement made by Emmanuel Macron, the President of France, masks are required when entering indoor establishments such as shops, grocery stores, banks etc.  For restaurants, guests may remove them while seated at their table and are asked to keep them on when entering or moving about. Masks are not required while outdoor in the streets or while enjoying the beaches.

Are beaches open?

  • Yes. All beaches are all open with no restrictions.  Masks are NOT required on beaches.  Social distancing is encouraged.
